Ash Wednesday 2-22-23

Catholic Online YouTube - Explains Ash Wednesday
"Remember you are dust and dust you shall return..."

You ask... What is Ash Wednesday... ???

Well, it's a very important day in the Christian Faith.

We Christians feel that we are to return to dust...

Is Ash Wednesday Biblical? Yes, very much so!

Genesis 3:19
"For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” The Lent, which we are starting this week with this sacramental and symbolism, touches us on a fundamental level, by taking us back to the beginning and then forward to redemption.Feb 23, 2020

What is Ash Wednesday?

"Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Lent is the forty days (excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter. The number forty is significant as it refers to Jesus’ forty days in the desert prior to beginning his ministry of teaching." "On Ash Wednesday, Christians receive ashes in the shape of a cross on their forehead or sprinkled on top of their head. These ashes are created from the palms used during the previous year’s Palm Sunday Mass." "They symbolize penance, which is appropriate as Lent is a season of penance, and remind us of our own mortality. During the Mass, as the priest applies the ashes, he says “Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.”

The Song of Bernadette - The Movie

THE SONG OF BERNADETTE

The Movie...

"The Song of Bernadette is a 1943 American biographical drama film based on the 1941 novel of the same name by Franz Werfel. It stars Jennifer Jones in the title role, which portrays the story of Bernadette Soubirous, who reportedly experienced eighteen visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary from February to July 1858 and was later canonized in 1933. The film was directed by Henry King, from a screenplay written by George Seaton. The novel was extremely popular, spending more than a year on The New York Times Best Seller list and thirteen weeks heading the list. The story was also turned into a Broadway play, which opened at the Belasco Theatre in March 1946."

Spiritual Boundaries - a prayer

PERIMETER PRAYER

"Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, I ask You to establish a perimeter of Your love and Protection around us and all of our loved ones and all of our possessions, including our house, our pets, our cars, our computers, our phone lines, gas lines, water pipes, sewer pipes and electrical lines. I ask that no demonic bondage, door, portron, demonic entity, portal, astral projection, or disembodied human spirit may enter this space of 100 yards in all directions. I ask that any demons that are there or should try to come immediately be rendered deaf, dumb, and blind; that You would strip them of all weapons, illusions, armor, power, and authority; that You would bind them, rebuke them, and disable them from communicating or interacting in any way. Remove them, sending them directly to the foot of Your Cross. I ask this in Your Name, Lord Jesus. Amen."

Guardian Angels

"The Guardian Angel"

Painting by Lindberg Heilige Schutzengel

This picture hung over my bed as a child.

October 2nd is the Feast Day of Guardian Angels

~~~
Guardian Angel Prayer:
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this day, be at my side,
To light and guard, rule and guide. Amen.
~~~

Guardian Angels... aw yes.

Do you know your Angel?

It is interesting what I've learned...

I was reviewing some notes from an event and read:

"What is the name of my guardian angel... ?"

(Please note that I was just reading and not actually asking for my angels name,

but a name came to me before I could even go to the next sentence in my notes.)

Immediately I heard a name...

What should I do???

I have since learned that the name of our Guardian Angel

is not something we should ask for...

It is not our place to name a spiritual being

nor to ask for their name.

Of course, there was interest to know my angel better,

but it was never the intent to offend My Angel,

nor to my Heavenly Father.

~~~
DID YOU KNOW?
Our Guardian Angels are appointed by
God to be with us our entire life on earth?
Guardian Angels are amazing, yes!
~~~

DID YOU KNOW?

The word "Angel" actually means spiritual being

superior to humans in power and intelligence?

Wow... I thought it meant messenger.

There is so much to learn about our guardian angels!

~~~
 I posted earlier in this blog about The Choirs of Angels:
There are 9 different groups or rankings of angels-
Angels, Archangels, Principalities, Powers, Virtues, Dominations, Thrones, Cherubim, and Seraphim.
Here's a link...   What you should know about Angels
A Short Video about Guardian Angels
Please Note: This Blog is based on our encounters with our heavenly and earthly angels, our prayers and our God winks as we wait to enter the Kingdom of God.
Blessing of the Throat
St. Blaze
Often on or around the 3rd of February after Mass
you will receive the Blessing of the Throat...
You ask WHY?
Here's some information...
Prayer to be prayed with 2 blessed candles crossed and placed next to the throat...
PRAYER: "Through the intercession of Saint Blase, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. ~Blessing of throats"
"Saint Blaise was an excellent physician in his hometown of Sebaste, Armenia, modern-day Silvas, Turkey. As a youth, he studied many of the great philosophers. When the Bishop of Sebaste died, Blaise was chosen as the new bishop by the popular acclaim “of all the people.” He was said to be a man of great faith and virtue, caring for his people in both body and soul. Many came to him for physical healing as a physician but also received many miracles. Many others came to him for spiritual healing, which was imparted by his deep faith. According to that same legend, even animals would listen to him and obey his commands, and he would heal them of ailments."
The Presentation of Our Lord, Jesus
Luke 2:22–24 When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.
