Celestial Beings - Angels

Often we hear about people who have died and someone will say... They earned their wings, and the wonderful Movie "It's a Wonderful Life" where the Angel, Clarence earned his wings... ???

I've decided to look into this to have a better understanding of the difference between Angel and Human...

Angels are created by God just like humans. But, Angels are a Celestial Being made of only a Spirit. Human is a Physical Being created by God where his spirit  lives inside of the body.
Will we ever really understand the Angels until we die? Probably not. Celestial Beings are a complex order for sure.  We've been taught that there are different Spheres of Angels.

1st Sphere of Angels - Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones... This is the highest ranking sphere of the Angels.

2nd Sphere of Angels - Dominations, Virtues, and Powers are in the middle of the ranking sphere.

3rd Sphere of Angels - Principalities, Archangels, Angels and Personal Guardian Angels, which are the lowest ranking sphere. These Angels are also the most commonly known to us Humans Beings, where we often see them referred to and referenced and mentioned in the Bible.

My deep understanding is that Angels are Spirits, yes and Humans are Humans who were created to procreate life, and to give glory to God... One big difference is that Angels do not procreate life and cannot received the Holy Sacraments. We Humans don't earn our "Wings" when we cross over to the Afterlife, where we may or maynot have earned our way into Heaven. I just found in the prior post on St. Augustine the thought of Angels being Spirits first and called "Angel" was the name of a function not the Angels nature. Maybe I will understand this more and can share when and if clarity comes to me...

Humans in Heaven are called Saints... Not Angels... We never earn our Wings... But do Angels earn their wings? I don't know... Bless you!

St. Augustine ~ Doctor of the Church

St. Augustine of Hippo
Feast Day August 28th
Born November 13, 354 - Died August 28, 430

The Son of St. Monica
Who prayed for his conversion for 17 years.
He is a true example of an answer to a Mother's Prayer...

"Augustine writes that “we know from our faith that angels exist, and we read of their having appeared to many people. For Augustine, the angels are not a feeling or an abstraction but a fact, and he often mentions celestial spirits in his writings. He says - angels act as messengers of God."

"The angels are spirits. When they are simply spirits, they are not angels, but when they are sent, they become angels; for ‘angel’ is the name of a function not a nature. If you inquire about the nature of such beings, you find that they are spirits, if you ask what their office is, the answer is that they are angels. In respect of what they are, such creatures are spirits; in respect of what they do, they are angels."

St. Augustine says we need to...

Pope Francis has told us it is our MORAL OBLIGATION
and our responsibility to protect others..

Do I hear Jesus saying...
"For what you hold bond on earth Peter,
I will hold bound in Heaven."
What are you doing to ensure others are not hurt by your actions?

BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
AND SHOW HUMILITY Please...

PRAYER: St. Raphael, we humbly ask for healing of many infirmities of our souls and all the illnesses that afflict the mind and body. We especially pray to receive the GIFT of HUMILITY... To be able to put OTHERS and their needs BEFORE OURS... Especially during these dark times where people are asked to protect each other. Please enlighten all to what they need to do and how to help protect those around them. Please intercede for us to have the grace of purity, please help us to prepare ourselves to be better temples of God, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Author Unknown)

Shared by Sister Mary Jo Michaels:

Fr. Jerry Orbos on the gospel reading of Mk.1:29-39, when Jesus acted on the needs of others.. like i.e visiting the sick and healing the mother of Peter; making the blind see; the l or Me walk; the multiplication of bread , etc etc. In his homily, he shared how to be personal even if you are a professional.

How?

1) Let all you do, let it be done with love. 1Cor.16-14

2) Do everything with humility with these acronyms:

H - honor God

U - understand people

M - move aside give a chance to others

I - invite don’t be a snob, include others

L - lower your pride, your voice, your expectations, don’t underestimate,                                     don’t judge other people

I - ignore the applause

T- take the bullet accept the fault, be sorry

Y - yield say yes or accept to avoid conflict

3) Be kind to people (specialize kindness)

4) Focus on the Lord and not on the load

5) Make it genuine (for humility leads to peace! And choose the road less travelled)

In addition to his homily, is that ... “If we are not rooted with God, we will become ruthless."

Thank you and God bless!

St. Faustina's Angel - Aug 25th is her Birthday!

"She saw her Guardian Angel frequently, both during mystical visions and in everyday circumstances."

Sister Faustina Kowalska received several visions and messages from Jesus. During these private revelations a great emphasis was placed on the Divine Mercy of God, which eventually led to the institution of “Divine Mercy Sunday.”

Angelic presence

"During these mystical visions, St. Faustina was typically accompanied by a “spirit,” an angelic presence who stayed with her even after the vision was completed."

Poster is From: the Divine Mercy.Org

She wrote in her
Diary....

"One day, when I was at adoration, and my spirit seemed to be dying for Him, and I could no longer hold back my tears, I saw a spirit of great beauty who spoke these words to me: “Don’t cry — says the Lord.” After a moment I asked, “Who are you?” He answered me, “I am one of the seven spirits who stand before the throne of God day and night and give Him ceaseless praise.” Yet this spirit did not soothe my yearning, but roused me to even greater longing for God. This spirit is very beautiful, and his beauty comes from close union with God. This spirit does not leave me for a single moment, but accompanies me everywhere."

She also wrote,Then I saw one of the seven spirits near me, radiant as at other times, under a form of light. I constantly saw him beside me when I was riding on the train. I saw an angel standing on every church we passed, but surrounded by a light which was paler than that of the spirit who was accompanying me on the journey, and each of these spirits who were guarding the churches bowed his head to the spirit who was near me.”

Our Lady of Medjugorje
August 25, 2021 Monthly Message to Marija
"Dear children! With joy I am calling all of you, little children, who have responded to my call: be joy and peace. Witness with your lives Heaven, which I am bringing to you. It is time, little children, that you be a reflection of my love for all those who do not love and whose hearts hatred has conquered. Do not forget: I am with you and intercede for all of you before my Son Jesus, that He may give you His peace. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Thank you Mother Mary... Thank you for coming to us and giving us HOPE!
We love you and we are so thankful that you brought us
YOUR HOLY SON, Jesus Christ.

Angels and St. Ignatius, & prayers

"The Angels, how they have endured me,
and looked after me, and prayed for me!"

St. Ignatius of Loyola,
Spiritual Exercises 60

PRAYING WITH ART from Path Ways to God..
"In the Spiritual Exercises, St Ignatius gives us the idea of meeting sacred scripture with one's own life, mediated through Imaginative Contemplation. The aim of these reflections is to do this in tandem with pieces of art. We offer a painting in collaboration with Geoff Wheaton SJ in the hope that it will enable you to reflect more deeply on a particular passage of scripture."

DID YOU KNOW??? 💭

Most Religious orders profess three vows:
Poverty Chastity and Obedience...

The Jesuits take another 4th vow:
Obedience to the Pope!

The vow Obedience to the Pope means:
Jesuits must be ready to accept whatever mission the Pope requires of them.
It reflects their broader dedication to the universal Church,
and to the greater good of all people, from all faiths and cultures.

St. Ignatius also encourages us to use The Anima Christi
in his Spiritual Exercises...

The Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Separated from Thee let me never be.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
At the hour of death, call me.
And close to Thee bid me.
That with Thy saints I may be Praising Thee, forever and ever.
Amen.

Personal Note: I have grown very fond of Fr. Henk van Meijel, sj over the past year... Like many, I found myself housebound viewing Mass via YouTube.
We were fortunate to have the Daily TV Mass provided to us this way.

Fr. Henk van Meijel always made us feel welcomed and special, with his deep spirituality and many blessings bestowed upon us watching. Sincerely, Thank You Fr. Henk...

Daily TV Mass, August 1, 2021 with Fr. Henk van Meijel, sj

A Prayer of St. Ignatius...  Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my entire will, all I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace. That is enough for me. Amen

I'm sharing with you today, my deep connection with the Jesuits.

"Plant a seed and it grows...
Yes, and I grew, and now I'm a tree...
My Tree is large and has many branches...
It even bears much fruit.

This Blog is one of the Fruits -
I am thankful for, and that I am able to give back to Thee."
