Solemnity of Mary

January 1st, we honor Our Heavenly Mother, Mary.
 You question why or how...
First let's review the proper definition of "Solemnity"
Solemnity means - the state or quality of being serious and dignified.
Often used in terms of a Ceremony. (Site Ref: Oxford dictionary)

Now let's take five minutes to listen to Fr. Burke explain Mother Mary to us...

Thank you Fr. Burke... That was awesome...💭

Now let's dig a bit further...
In the Liturgical calendar of the Roman Rite, a "Solemnity"
is a feast day of the highest rank, which celebrates a mystery of faith such as the
Trinity, an event in the life of Jesus, his mother Mary,
his legal father Joseph, or other mighty saints.

So, on January 1st, we honor our Heavenly Mother -
foremost because Jesus gave her to us.

Read: John 19:26 -27 So when Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own household. (Site Reference: Holy Bible)

AND BECAUSE

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church we are taught that "Mary is truly 'Mother of God' since she is the mother of the eternal Son of God made man, who is God himself." According to our Catholic teachings, sourced in the John 1:1-14, Mary did not create the divine person of Jesus, who existed with the Father from all eternity.
(Site Ref: Catechism of the Catholic Church)

"Mary is the Mother of Christ, and Christ is head of the Church"
"Therefore, Mary is actually the Mother of the Church, the True Church of Christianity, the Holy Catholic Church. Thus, the Holy Catholic Church is considered to be a mother to her members because we are all the Bride of Christ, and all other churches (Protestant etc) have had their origins from Mary and the True Mother Church...
"The Holy Catholic Church".

"Mary is also seen as the perfect role model of the Church. Because, she agreed to God's Holy Will to give birth to His son, Jesus Christ.  Just think - Mother Mary's immaculate heart supported baby Jesus in and out of her womb. She nurtured Him until he was able to began His own Ministry." (Site Ref: BBC.Co.UK)

It is only with much gratitude that I say "THANK YOU" to my Heavenly Mother
by going to Mass on this Holy First Day of the Year...
